Pediatric Dentistry
Children and adolescents have special needs when it comes to general dentistry. After all, their teeth have yet to be fully developed. This is why it is important to instill proper oral health practices in children and adolescents early. As a family dentist, Dr. Alla Shikhanovich treats all members of the family including children. One of the most important components of pediatric dentistry is child psychology. At Prima Family Dental we fulfill many important functions pertaining to the child’s overall oral health and hygiene. We offer:
Personal Relationships
At Prima Family Dental, we care about your children as if they were our own. We create an environment where your child feels safe and comfortable—and can even have fun!
We take the time to get to know them personally, listening to their unique wants and desires, so we can help them feel comfortable during their care and deliver customized services to meet their needs. We thoroughly enjoy building strong relationships together and look forward to getting to know your family through the years.
Patient Education
Good habits should start early, which is why we make patient education a priority here. Dr. Klein and our caring team are dedicated to helping your child understand the importance of good oral hygiene and will empower you and your child with the knowledge necessary to maintain lasting oral health for years to come.
Working Together with You and Your Child
We work together with you and your child as a team so you both can feel comfortable and empowered through every step of your child’s oral health care. We welcome parents in the treatment rooms and pride ourselves in our ability to answer your questions and explain the details of treatment in an honest and easy-to-understand manner. Your family will be well-informed and confident in your child’s dental decisions. Together, we will empower your family towards lifelong health.
Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride is a major component in the prevention of childhood dental caries. This is because fluoride alters the molecular structure of the tooth, making it more resistant to acid attack and decay. However, children require the right balance of fluoride treatment. Too much fluoride could be problematic and lead to fluorosis. Check with your dentist and water authority about the need for fluoride treatments. Learn more …
Teeth Grinding
The excessive grinding of teeth or clenching of the jaw is called bruxism, and there are two types: one that occurs during sleep and another while the individual is awake. Bruxism is quite a common problem, and those who suffer from it (particularly sleep bruxism) are not usually aware that they experience it. In the long run, however, bruxism can lead to hypersensitive teeth, sore jaw muscles, headaches, worn and/or broken teeth, and damage to dental restorations and appliances such as crowns, bridges, fillings, and implants. If you suspect that you are suffering from bruxism, you may see Prima Family Dental for treatments and solutions. Allow us to remedy your teeth grinding and protect your teeth from long-term damage.
